Positive development on EC formation

নির্বাচন কমিশন গঠনে ইতিবাচক সাড়া / দিক/ ভালো অগ্রগতি/

We welcome the news that the Hon'able President will be holding dialogues with the political parties on the formation of a new election commission on his return from Singapore.

সিঙ্গাপুর থেকে ফিরে এসে একটি নতুন নির্বাচন কমিশন গঠনের লক্ষ্যে মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি রাজনৈতিক দলসমূহের সাথে সংলাপে বসবেন - আমরা তাঁর এই উদ্যোগকে স্বাগত জানায়।

The PM had also alluded to it recently during a press conference.

সম্প্রতি একটি সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনে মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীও এমনটি বলেছিলেন ।

In this regard we recall a similar exercise by late President Zillur Rahman that unfortunately did not produce any result.

The point that must be emphasised here is that although it is for the President to appoint the EC, he can only do so on the advice of the PM.

The President can go only as far as the Prime Minister would want him to.

উল্লেখ্য , মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী যাকে চাইবেন মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি শুধু তাকেই নিয়োগ দিতে পারেন ।

It would therefore be our expectation that the PM would allow a wide mandate to the President that would enable him to broker a deal and reach a modus vivendi in appointing an EC that would be acceptable to all.

সুতরাং, আমাদের প্রত্যাশা মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতিকে সর্বাত্মক সমর্থন দিবেন যাতে তিনি কাজটি সাফল্যের সাথে সম্পন্ন করতে পারেন এবং নির্বাচন কমিশন নিয়োগে একটি সর্বজন গ্রাহ্য হয় পন্থা গ্রহণ করতে পারেন ।

It would not be out of place to mention that for a greater part of its existence of nearly seven decades, the AL had been in the opposition, struggling on behalf of the people for democratic and political rights.

এটি উল্লেখ করলে অত্যুক্তি হবে না যে, দল হিসেবে আওয়ামীলীগ প্রায় ৭০ বছর নিজের অস্তিত্ব মর্যাদার সাথেই ধরে রেখেছে , তাছাড়া তারাও বিরোধী দলে ছিল , এবং জনগণের গণতন্ত্র ও রাজনৈতিক অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠায় সংগ্রাম করেছিল।

Therefore, we feel, there cannot be any party in a better position than the AL to understand the travails of the opposition.

অতএব, আমরা মনে করি আওয়ামীলীগের চেয়ে আর কোন ভালো দল নাই যারা বিরোধীদলের দুঃখ- কষ্টগুলো সেভাবে বুঝবে ।

In this regard too we would like to put our faith and confidence in the lifelong experience of the Hon'able President, much of which was spent also on the opposition bench.

এছাড়াও ,মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতির সারা জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতার প্রতি আমরা আমাদের বিশ্বাস ও আস্থা রাখতে চাই কেননা তিনি অনেক সময় বিরোধী দলেও ছিলেন।

And, given the sagacity he displayed during his tenure as the Speaker of the Parliament, we feel he is eminently endowed to give the country an equitable solution.

তাছাড়া, জাতীয় সংসদের স্পিকার থাকার সময় তিনি যে বিচক্ষণতার দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করেছেন তা থেকেই আমরা বিশ্বাস করি তিনি অত্যন্ত দক্ষতা সাথে একটি নিরপেক্ষ সমাধান দেশকে উপহার দিতে সক্ষম হবেন ।

It should not be lost upon anybody that the nub of the problem is to have an EC that would be acceptable to all.

আমাদের কারোরই ভুলে গেলে চলবে না যে এই সমস্যার গুঢ়কথা হলো সর্বজনগ্রাহ্য একটি নির্বাচন কমিশন।
