The European Union yesterday advised Bangladesh to improve labour standards, security, democracy, environment standards and freedom of expression to qualify for the GSP Plus status.
= গতকাল ইউরোপিয়ান ইউনিয়ন বাংলাদেশকে জিএসপি প্লাস সুবিধা পেতে হলে মানসম্মত শ্রমিক বা দক্ষ শ্রমিক, নিরাপত্তা, গনতন্ত্র, মানসম্মত কাজের পরিবেশ এবং মত প্রকাশের স্বাধীনতায় উন্নতি করার পরামর্শ দেন।
The suggestion came at a meeting between Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Bernd Lange, chair of the International Trade Committee of the European Parliament, at the state guesthouse Meghna in Dhaka.
=ঢাকার রাষ্ট্রীয় অতিথি ভবন মেঘনায়, বাণিজ্যমঞী তোফায়েল আহমেদ এবং ইউরোপিয়ান সংসদীয় আন্তর্জাতিক বাণিজ্য কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান বার্নড লেঙ্গের এক সভা থেকে এ পরামর্শ আসে।
“This (GSP Plus) is of course really related to the question of freedom of expression, democratic development and security,” Lange said at a media briefing after the meeting.
লেঙ্গ সভা শেষে এক সংবাদ সম্মেলন বলেন, জিএসপি প্লাস সত্যিকার অর্থে মত প্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা, গনতান্ত্রিক উন্নয়ন এবং নিরাপত্তার প্রশ্নের সাথে জড়িত।
“So, we have to prepare for that even now because process is going on and time is limited.”
= সুতরাং আমরা এটির জন্য প্রস্তুতি নিয়েছি এমনি এখনও এর প্রক্রিয়া চলছে কারন সময় কম।
He also suggested Bangladesh focus on fulfilling the requirement as early as possible, so that the EU agrees to award the GSP Plus soon.
=সে বাংলাদেশকে যত তাড়াতাড়ি সম্ভব শর্তগুলো পূরণের গুরুত্ব দিতে পরামর্শ দেন যাতে ইউরোপিয়ান ইউনিয়ন শীঘ্রই জিএসপি সুবিধা দিতে রাজি হয়।
Bangladesh is on track to receiving the GSP Plus status from the European Union
= বাংলাদেশ ইউরোপিয়ান ইউনিয়ন থেকে জিএসপি প্লাস সুবিধা গ্রহনের প্রান্তে বা সুবিবেচনায় রয়েছে।
The GSP Plus scheme will be applicable for Bangladesh then, for which the country will have to fulfil some conditions.
=যখন বাংলাদেশ কিছু শর্ত পূরণ করতে সক্ষম হবে তখন জিএসপি প্লাস প্রকল্প বাংলাদেশের জন্য উন্মুক্ত হবে।
Strengthening workplace safety, improved labour rights, saving the environment and reduction of corruption are some of the major conditions for receiving the GSP Plus status from the EU.
= ইউরোপিয়ান ইউনিয়ন থেকে জিএসপি প্লাস সুবিধা গ্রহনের প্রধান শর্তগুলো হলো কর্মস্থলের নিরাপত্তা বৃদ্ধি, শ্রমিক আইন উন্নয়ন, পরিবেশ রক্ষা এবং দুনীতি প্রশমন।
The delegation has visited factories to see the labour rights situation and workplace safety.
= প্রতিনিধিদল শ্রমিক অধিকারের অবস্থা এবং কর্মস্থলের নিরাপত্তা দেখার জন্য কারখানা পরিদর্শন করেন।
They are optimistic that Bangladesh will qualify for the GSP Plus status as the country improved a lot in workplace safety and labour rights after the Rana Plaza building collapse.
= তারা আশাবাদী যে বাংলাদেশ জিএসপি প্লাস সুবিধা পাওয়ার যোগ্য বলে বিবেচিত হবে কারন রানা প্লাজা ভবন ধ্বংসের পর কর্মস্থলের নিরাপত্তা ও শ্রমিক অধিকার আইনের অনেক উন্নতি হয়েছে।
Rana Plaza was a wakeup call for Bangladesh, according to Lange.
= লেঙ্গ মনে করেন, রানা প্লাজা ছিল বাংলাদেশের জন্য অশনি সংকেত ।
