১) ধ্বংসের মুখে তুরাগ।
Utter disregard for national resources
২) জাতীয় সম্পদগুলোর প্রতি চরম অবজ্ঞা।
We can only write a requiem for the once mighty river that has been one of the capital's lifeline sustaining its population.
৩)এক সময়ের রাজধানী বাসীর অস্তিত্ব রক্ষার লাইফলাইন খ্যাত নদী সমূহের মধ্যে অন্যতম নদীটি সম্পর্কে আমরা এখন শুধু তার শোকগাথাই লিখতে পারি।
It is all but dead and nothing can resuscitate it back to life unless some drastic measures are taken.
৪) এটি প্রায় ধ্বংসের দ্বারপ্রান্তে এবং যদি কিছু কার্যকরী পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া না হয় তাহলে কোন ভাবেই এর অস্তিত্ব রক্ষা রক্ষা সম্ভব হবে না ।
We have been highlighting Turag's woes for several years, as we have been of the other three important rivers which are so very vital for the city, depicting how a nature's gift to man was being plundered gradually by the powerful and the rich river grabbers, who seem to have outdone their counterparts - the land grabbers - in their most nefarious activity.
৫) কিভাবে কতিপয় ক্ষমতাবান নদী লুণ্ঠনকারীদের জঘণ্য কর্মকাণ্ড যা ভূমি দস্যুদেরকেও হারা মানায় , ফলে প্রকৃতির এই অসামান্য উপহার দিন দিন ধ্বংসের মুখে পতিত হচ্ছে সেই চিত্র তুলে ধরা জন্য আমরা গতকয়েক বছর ধরেেই তুরাগসহ রাজধানীর অন্য তিনটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নদীগুলোর বিপন্নতাকে গুরুত্ব দিয়ে আসছি।
It is frustrating that the many initiatives taken by the Parliament and the judiciary should have come to naught.
৬ । সংসদ ও বিচার বিভাগ কর্তৃক গৃহীত কোন পদক্ষেপই ফলপ্রসু না হওয়ায় আমরা হতাশ !
The sad part of the story is how the court rulings have been blatantly violated not giving two hoots for the law.
৭) আর সবচেয়ে দুঃখজনক হল কিভাবে আদালতের নির্দেশনাকে লঙ্ঘণ করে আইনকে বুড়ো আঙ্গুল দেখানো হচ্ছে ।
We cannot believe that such a gross destruction of this and other rivers can be effected without the complicity of the relevant departments of the administration.
৮) আমরা বিশ্বাসই করতে পারিনা যে প্রশাসনের সংশ্লিষ্ট বিভাগের যোগসাজশ ছাড়া এই নদীগুলো কিভাবে ব্যাপক ধ্বংস সম্মুখীন হতে পারে।
These grabbers become more powerful than the state agencies only because those responsible to protect the interest of the state abdicate their duty and succumb to pecuniary temptations.
৯) রাষ্ট্রীয় স্বার্থ রক্ষায় নিয়োজিত দায়িত্ববানরা টাকার কাছে বশীভূত হয়ে দায়িত্ব- কর্তব্য এড়িয়ে যাওয়ার কারণেই এই ভূমি দস্যূরা রাষ্ট্রীয় আইন শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী সংস্থাসমূহের চেয়েও প্রভাবশালী হয়েছে ।
Otherwise how does one account for the present condition of the river?
১০) তা না হলে নদীটির এই অবস্থা হয় কিভাবে?
Very recently, a strong committee under the Navy Chief has been formed to free the rivers around the capital from pollution and illegal encroachment and increase their navigability. It should get to work immediately.
১১) সম্প্রতি নৌবাহিনীর প্রধানের নেতৃত্বে রাজধানীর আশপাশের নদীগুলো দূষণ ও দখলদারিত্ব মুক্ত করতে এবং নাব্যতা বাড়াতে একটি শক্তিশালী কমিটি গঠিত হয়েছে এবং খুব শীঘ্রই এটি কার্যকর হওয়া উচিত।
But that apart, those that have brought the rivers to near death must be held to account as also those in the administration who have allowed this to happen.
১২) পাশাপাশি যারা নদীগুলোকে ধ্বংসের দিকে ঠেলে দিয়েছে তাদেরকে ও তাদের সহায়তাকারী প্রশাসনের অসাধু কর্মকতাদের অবশ্যই আটক করে বিচারের সম্মুখীন করা উচিত ।
